As the war in Ukraine rages on and many Ukrainian citizens have been forced to flee their homes, people all over Europe are working around the clock to support Ukrainian refugees. From victim support workers to translators and volunteers – people with all kinds of backgrounds are impacted by the stories they hear. These stories can have a tremendous impact on their mental health, causing many to experience compassion fatigue and vicarious trauma.
Our member EMDR Europe has offered to provide a training to people (at risk of) experiencing vicarious trauma in their work with Ukrainian refugees. The training will be held on the Victim Support Hub on 3 May 2022 at 14:00 CET, and is open for anybody who works with Ukrainian refugees directly or manages people that do. The training will cover traumatic reactions, promote resilience, and there is a possibility for follow-up group sessions if needed.
