A cyber-crime is a crime that involves a computer or a computer network. The computer or device may be the agent of the crime, the facilitator of the crime, or the target of the crime.

Cyber-crime may harm someone’s security or finances.

Cyber-crime attacks can begin wherever there is digital data, opportunity and motive. Cyber-criminals include everyone from the lone user engaged in cyber-bullying to state-sponsored actors.

The challenge of cyber-crime is that the internet is borderless and there are no territorial boundaries with regard to the cyber space. This is as the location of the victim and the offender with the location of the commission of the offence is vague.
